Self-Made Man by Norah Vincent

This book is the result of 18 months of research, by Norah Vincent herself, into the world of men, as they are when women are not around. With the help of a vocal coach, make-up artist, and a personal trainer, she was able to expertly disguise herself as a man every day to join in places women are usually not welcome.

Her journey in this book is fascinating! She writes in vivid detail all aspects of the places she infiltrated and the experiences she had. From strip clubs, a men's bowling team, dating lonely women, a men's therapy group and into a monastery, what she found was not exactly what she thought. Men have it harder than most women realize, just being men.

This book will make you laugh, cry, and root for Norah as she becomes 'Ned' to all those who welcomed her in their inner circle as a man. She found, at the end, she was depleted and exhausted, but glad she made the journey. And I think as you read her wisdom and insight, you will be glad she did too.
